Duke, Emma and Jasper
Duke, Emma and Jasper are the three ghosts who appear in The Cuphead Show! episode Ghosts Ain't Real!
Appearance
All three of them are blue, translucent ghosts.
Duke is the small ghost wearing the suit with a big nose. He has the ability to pull the top of his head off much like Goopy Le Grande, albeit more gruesomely as you can see his brain.
Emma is the tall female ghost dressed in Victorian fashion. She has her hair tied up in a bun.
Jasper is the fat ghost wearing overalls. He has a saw embedded into his head.
There are other ghosts of various shapes, sizes and appearances that join them in their haunting.
Personality
They take pleasure in giving a good scare to those who wander into their graveyard, however they have a limit as they show concern when they think their ghostly antics caused Cuphead and Mugman to die after falling out of the highest floor of the haunted house.
Jasper is the stereotypical fat idiot character that gets smacked around by Duke, who is the typical short leader character. Emma is the calmer character of the trio.
Trivia
- Amongst their ranks, you can see the Blind Specter, one of the Spectral Rats Katzenwagen summons, and the big ghost from the Spectre Syndicate (but blue instead of pink).
Inspirations and Similarities
- They are similar to The Lonesome Ghosts from the cartoon of the same name.
- Duke's design is based on Egghead from Looney Tunes.
- His nose is similar in appearance to Billy from the Cartoon Network show The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
- Duke's relationship with Jasper is similar to that of Rocky and Mugsy.
- The marching band ghosts in their song resemble ghosts that appear in 1932's Minnie the Moocher.
