Lost in the Woods is the twelfth episode of season 2 of The Cuphead Show! and is the twenty-fourth overall.

Synopsis

Winter's coming and there's lots of work to do, but Cuphead doesn't want to do any of it. Forget chopping wood -- he'd rather launch rockets into the sky.

Plot

Mugman is seen chopping firewood for the winter time, while on the other hand, Cuphead has not chopped even a single piece of wood, and rather is shown to instead launch fireworks. Elder Kettle then scolds him for it and commands him to set the firewood next to the stump, before he too launches all of wood as well. Elder Kettle then punishes him by forcing him to collect the seasons worth of firewood all by himself, before Mugman follows right behind. The next scene features Mugman chopping the wood, with Cuphead taking that wood and strapping it to a firework, before Mugman snaps at him, and has him hold his axe, while he gets another piece of wood. Cuphead then also launches Mugman's axe, before he launches his own axe. When Mugman attempts to locate the cottage, he requests for his pocket compass, from Cuphead, before the cup also has it strapped to a firework.

Now without anything to locate their way back, the brothers are now deemed stranded lost in the woods, as they then go their own separate ways. Cuphead then dreams himself relaxing near the fire, while Mugman is found collapsed as the front door, very weak. That's when Cuphead wakes up and has to find food. He does find food through some means, but the animal refuses to give it to him. During the harsh winter, Cuphead is groaning and crawling very weakly, until he stumbles across a log cabin. When he arrives there, the owner is revealed to have been Mugman, who then rejects him staying with him. When Mugman goes back into his cabin to bake a pie, he then looks out the window to see his brother frozen solid, before he sighs annoyed, goes outside, and breaks the ice while giving him a cup of hot cocoa. Mugman then assumes that Cuphead has learned his lesson about him burning through his resources when it comes to survival, before the latter rushes to the cabin and locks Mugman outside. Mugman the peeks through the window to see his pie being devoured by Cuphead. Having enough, Mugman straps fireworks to his cabin to blow up Cuphead, (pretty much of how Cuphead blew up their resources) before it is revealed that his brother is watching right behind him with the pie. The then run out as the wood starts raining upon them, before Elder Kettle notices them from the distance, and calls them out. He then has revealed to have chopped up all the firewood, during their absence and tells the two to come into the cottage before they catch a cold. At the front yard, Mugman attempts to apologize, before Cuphead is revealed to have not learned his lesson and instead straps a firework to Mugman, much to his annoyance. Mugman then blasts off as Cuphead laughs hysterically.
