The Boatman
The Boatman is an NPC appearing in all the Inkwell Isles, acting as a fast travel system. He gives you a message from Legendary Chalice for the quest and the new Island.
Appearance
The Boatman is a tall compass wearing a blue robe. The hands on his face act as a mustache. His arms are teal and made from the same material as his face, most likely glass. In the DLC Release Date trailer, he takes on a different appearance, his robe is open and his torso appears to be made of wood, and his arms are made of rope with clocks/compasses acting as his hands.
Personality
Not much is known about him, but he seems to have a connection with The Legendary Chalice, as she asked him to deliver a quest to the boys.

Trivia
- He first appeared in puppet form in the DLC Release Date Trailer shown at The Game Awards 2021.
- He is the only NPC to appear on all Inkwell Isles (though not Inkwell Hell).
- Despite not being a boss, he takes part in Chef Saltbaker's sentencing by having him repaint his boat.
- He seems to be inspired by the hooded variations of Charon/Kharon from Greek mythology (the ferryman of Hades who carries the souls of the newly deceased across the River Styx to the Underworld), indicated by his hooded robe and service as a ferryman to Cuphead and Mugman, slowly rowing them to Inkwell Isle 4 to meet with the ghostly Chalice.
