Ollie Bulb
"Hey little guy, it's O.K. if you have to cry!"
—Ollie Bulb, Death Screen
Ollie Bulb is a boss that appears as the second phase of the Root Pack in Botanic Panic!.
Description
Appearance
Ollie Bulb is a large anthropomorphic onion with lanky arms, a blushing puffy cheeks, a round purple nose and a pair of small crescent brows. He slightly furrows almost all the time except when he is happy. He has three small leaves on top of his head. His body consist of strips of onion skin, each with a different shade.
Personality
Ollie Bulb is the more bashful follower of the Root Pack; a well-meaning, bashful tagalong who's a little in over his head.[1] He is shown to be quite emotional, as seen when he cries uncontrollably while fighting Cuphead and Mugman, and in the case of The Cuphead Show, after he's told a sad story. He is a stark contrast to the other two members of the Pack. In Cuphead in Carnival Chaos: A Cuphead Novel, he is the neighborhood grocer.
Battle
After Sal Spudder is defeated, Ollie will rise out of the soil in the middle of the area and shakes the dirt off from his nose. Upon looking around the area with a worried expression, he will begin to wail.
Unlike Chauncey Chantenay, players can inadvertently be damaged if they touch him. Ollie Bulb's only attack is to cry out water streams on both sides, which rain down tears randomly across the area. Some of those tears can be parried. In Expert mode, the tears drop quicker and there will be more falling down each time he cries. In Simple Mode, Ollie Bulb doesn't appear in the fight.
Upon defeated, Ollie will constantly start pushing his cheeks with both hands with several strips of his onion skin peeled down while sinking to the ground. Hitpoints = 400/425
Secret Phase
In the version 1.2.0, if the player avoids firing at Ollie Bulb upon his arrival, Ollie will look around in fear before realizing the players mean no harm, burrowing away while smiling at the player. Horace Radiche will then appear in the third phase alongside Chauncey. Sparing Ollie Bulb will also cause the Progress Bar to have a question mark in the center when you die.

Trivia
- Ollie's attack and personality are a reference to the fact that onions release chemicals into the air when cut open that can sometimes cause people to tear up. It used to be Beetrice Lutz's personality until the developer realize it would fit perfectly for an onion, while also teaches player(s) to dodge sideways with tears dropping from off-screen.
- Ollie seems to have similarities to Jerome "Curly" Howard of the Three Stooges mostly because of how child-like Ollie Bulb is.
- Prior to the 1.2 update, various sprites and animations were left unused. As of the update, many unused features were added, including Horace Radiche after the secret phase.
- In legacy and version 1.1.X, Ollie would have look around two more times if you do not attack him, a remnant of secret phase existing like the cupid decoration in the first phase of Sally. This also explains why attacking Ollie after the fourth back and forth in the current version does not make him cry, as the flag of Horace coming out and him being spared already set. This is an optimization to generates cards for EXes.
